Signing up Google Adsense is just the first step for those who want to make money from Google AdSense.

The next step is to increase blog visitors and also optimize the AdSense ads on the blog so that more and more are clicking.

Well on this post I will discuss about how to improve Google AdSense CTR.

What is CTR?

CTR (Click Through Rate) or in Indonesian is called CTR (Clickthrough Rate) is the percentage of the number of ad clicks from the total display / ad impressions.

For example if the ads on your blog viewed 1000 times and there are 10 people who click on ads, it means my friend get a CTR of 1%.

How much is a reasonable Google AdSense CTR?

Normal Google AdSense CTR is generally between 1% to 3%. Your blog may be able to get a larger or smaller CTR. This is because the number of CTR depends on many things, one of which is a topic on your blog.

There are some blog topics can get very high CTR, besides there are also blog topics that can only get CTR below 1%.

One of the topics of blogs that usually get a low CTR is the topic of blog gado-gado or blogs whose topics are mixed.

How to improve Google AdSense CTR?

Whether your blog blog gado-gado or not, below are some things you can do to improve the Google AdSense CTR or the language easy way to click more ads.

1. Use a simple theme / template and not too crowded

Try to use a theme or blog template that has a simple layout and also not too crowded (not too many colors).

Why is that, Mas?

Because the look of a simple blog and not too many knick-knacks will make the ad can appear more prominent and will more easily attract the attention of visitors to click on it.

2. Do not install too many widgets

Although your blog using a theme or template is simple but if installing too many widgets then the same lie.

Uninstall less important widgets, such as calendar widgets or blog statistics widgets, etc. The fewer the installed widgets will get better. The reason is the same as point number 1.

3. Use a theme / template that is not too wide

Blog design is too wide will make the eyes of visitors must move to the right and left to read the content on the blog. Because his eyes tired eventually not sempet see ads because not focus.

Well if the blog design is narrow it will make the visitor's eyes focus to the middle and will make the ad more easily attract the eye. In the end visitors gatel kepengin ngeklik ads.

4. Use responsive design

Internet users now use more mobile devices than desktops. That means having a responsive blog design is a must.

Moreover, Google AdSense is now providing Responsive type ads.

5. Use recommended ad sizes

Google AdSense provides enough ad sizes to choose from, even my friends can also create their own ad sizes. But there are only a few ad sizes that have good CTR performance.

Generally the larger the ad size the higher the CTR value. The reason is certain because larger ads will be more visible to visitors.

Here is a graph I took from labnol.org about the ad CTR value from the smallest to the largest size:

6. Put the ad in the right place

Although my friend has chosen the right ad size but if the placement of the ad is wrong then certainly will not be effective.

Here are the right ad placement recommendations to get a high CTR:

Under the post title size 300 × 250 or 336 × 280
In the middle of the post Responsive size, 300 × 250 or 336 × 280
Below post size 300 × 250 or 336 × 280
In sidebar size 300 × 600, 300 × 250, or 160 × 600
In the Responsive or 728x90 size header

7. Use a combination of image type ads, text, and link units

Google AdSense provides 3 types of ads, namely image type ads, text and link units. Use all three combinations to make your ads appear more varied.

8. Reduce the number of ads

One other way you can improve your Google AdSense CTR is to reduce the number of ads installed.

Simply place ads in locations that get a high CTR score. For example under the post title or in the middle of posting.

9. Do not mix AdSense ads with other ads

Google AdSense itself does not prohibit to mix AdSense ads with ads from other programs. But it would be better not to mix it.

10. Increase blog visitors

The latter may not be a way to improve CTR, but what else, if my friend has implemented the way 1 to 9 but CTR ads remain low, then the easiest solution is to increase blog visitors.
